There was a new song in church this morning, inspired during the planting or harvest… I listened to the words of the song, feeling the depths of despair – healed.
As a songwriter, the concept wasn’t lost on me. I believe God brings words to mind, and occasionally they come with new tune, or a twist of melody from an old tune, the notes may falter, but the words ring true. I felt inspired to turn up the volume and sing along, or more… To write a new song.
The Psalmist wrote many songs and inspires many more even today.
Psalms 33 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
2 Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.
5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
Brought on by the lilt of notes ringing through the church, the words of the Psalm reminded me that God loves music. God loves joyful singing and praises. God loves righteousness. And he provides out of the earth’s abundance, the glorious riches and goodness of his love.
Do you love to sing?
Lift up your voice and make a beautiful noise unto the Lord.
Join us on Sunday morning for worship, and stick around for the preaching. God’s word never returns void. You will be blessed.
